Clayton J. Foor lives in Pleasant Hill, CA. He
holds a B.A. in Music from Stanford University with a concentration in
composition; a B.S. from Stanford University in Computer Science; and
an M.S. from Stanford University in Civil Engineering. He has studied
composition with David Rakowski, Ross Bauer, Jody Rockmaker, Wayne Peterson, and Chris Chafe.
Clayton has been a recipient of the ASCAP Plus Award for composition in 2007-2008, 2008-2009, 2009-2010, and 2010-2011.
In his catalog you will find a good
deal of music for solo piano, choral music -- largely liturgical -- as
well as music for solo voice, chamber ensemble, and solo organ. He has
begun his second book of piano miniatures for beginning students, and
he is currently working on The Psalms, a large-scale work conceived for
full orchestra and full chorus. His music has been performed at The
New Music in the Gallery concert series presented in downtown Chicago
by the Chicago Composers' Forum; at Los Medanos College in Pittsburg,
CA; Las Positas College in Livermore, CA; Tri-Valley Unity Church in
Dublin, CA; Trinity Lutheran Church in Pleasanton, CA; Palo Alto
Community Church in Palo Alto, CA; and at various other churches and
community events in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
In addition to composing, Clayton has a private piano teaching practice
of about 45 students. He directs the East Bay Festival Chorus and is a
professional pianist who can be found playing at Bay Area churches,
and a private and corporate events throughout the Bay Area. For ten years starting in 2001 Clayton was a regular pianist for the Nordstrom department stores In the San Francisco area. Clayton has held positions on the music faculty at Los Medanos
College in Pittsburg, CA, Las Positas College in Livermore, CA, and
Sunset Elementary School in Pleasanton, CA. For eight years he served
as the Music Director at Tri-Valley Unity Church in Dublin, CA. You
